In June, MAA’s Monthly Tip highlighted the requirements needed on a hearing aid receipt. July discussed the specific language, font, size, and location of required text needed on a hearing aid receipt. This final Monthly Tip in the series related to a hearing aid receipt addresses the length of time to return a hearing aid.

Maryland Statute S2-314.8 states that a hearing aid can be returned within 30 days of the date of delivery. The law goes on to clarify that the hearing aid can be returned for any reason, by mailing or delivering a notice of cancellation to the address specified in the contract.

As noted in prior Monthly Tips, please review these requirements and ensure that your practice’s hearing aid receipt meets the legal requirements. As a reminder, MAA does not offer or sell hearing aid fitting receipts. A practice can create their own receipt with the required information or find customizable templates from national associations.
