Continuing Education (CEU) is a part of the audiology licensure requirement. Every two years, licensure needs to be renewed and each provider must verify their CEU courses. Audiologists are required to obtain 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years; 20 hours in the area of licensure (audiology) and 10 hours in speech-language pathology, audiology, or both, which includes practice management. [Requirements are slightly different for providers who are dual licensed. See Chapter 3.06 (2) for more details.] Any CE beyond 30 hours may not be carried over in to the new renewal period. Ten percent of the renewals will be audited for CEU requirements.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many providers have been obtaining CEUs through webinar classes. Other activities that can provide CEUs include, but are not limited to, academic coursework in audiology, speech-language pathology at an accredited college/university; attendance at Board meetings (limited to 5 CEU hours); independent studies including journals, audio/visual tapes, internet based; and pro bono work (limit 3 CEU hours).
After completing an approved CE program, audiologists will receive a certificate of completion which includes the date, description of the program, attendee’s name, the CE provider, and number of CE hours.Read the complete CEU requirements.
